Stop Clock Setup Guide

The EPA Stop Clock can be configured in 2 ways:

  • By the webpage URL − means you can create a customised URL for embedding onto your own website that creates a stop clock setup of your own requirements.
  • From the Settings cog in the top-right corner of the stop clock.

Available Settings:

  • Timer − displayed on the main screen. This is the total shot countdown time in seconds, can be between 15, 30, 45 (default) or 60 seconds.
  • Countdown − this is the countdown timer, can be zero, 5 or 10 seconds. If zero, then there is no countdown. Example might be World Rules timer.
  • Extension − this is the shot extension time, can be zero, 15 or 30 seconds. If zero, then there are no extensions and the extension buttons will not be displayed. Example might be World Rules timer.
  • Warning Time − this is the warning time, can be zero, 15 or 30 seconds. If zero, then there is no warning sound. Example might be World Rules timer where a warning is offered at 30 seconds.
  • Home/Away Extension (On or Off) − some people prefer the extension buttons to be labelled Home and Away rather than Reds and Yellows. This makes life easier when an extension is called and colours have not been decided yet. This is off by default, and when on will use the Home and Away button styles and calls.
  • Countdown Beeps (On or Off) − some people prefer beeps during the countdown to a voice call. When on, beeps are used.

Configuring the URL:

The base URL for the EPA Stop Clock is www.epa.org.uk/stopclock

This primary link gives a default International Rules stop clock with 45 seconds shot time, 5 second countdown, 15 second extensions, no warning time, verbal countdown and uses Red and Yellow extension buttons.

In the usual URL query style for web browsers, the parameters are included by adding a ? to the end of the URL and then listing the parameters using & as a separator.

The parameters that can be configured by URL all take numeric integer values only and are:

  • t (shot time)
  • c (countdown time)
  • e (extension time)
  • w (warning time)
  • x (home/away extension style − 1 = On, 0 = Off)
  • b (beep sounds − 1 = On, 0 = Off)

No parameters are mandatory and they can be listed in any order where needed. Any that are not specified will take the default values as described above.
